Radu Uszkai on Artists, Copyright, and the New Era of Generative AI at the Conference in Poland

Radu Uszkai, researcher at the Research Centre in Applied Ethics (CCEA), participated in the international conference “Human Rights in not only Democratic Societies,” hosted by the University of Siedlce, Poland on 9-10 October 2025.

His presentation was titled: “The new Luddites? Artists, copyright and the rise of Generative AI.”

The paper explored the growing tension between the artistic community and the rapid development of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI). Radu Uszkai analyzed whether artists’ concerns regarding copyright and the impact of AI on the labor market can be compared to the historical Luddite movement, which protested against industrial automation.

Through this contribution, CCEA continues to be an active player in the global ethical debate concerning human rights, intellectual property, and the implications of new technologies.
