Mihaela Constantinescu, executive director of the Research Center in Applied Ethics (CCEA) at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Bucharest, has been appointed Ambassador for ERC in Romania. The official launch event of the new “Ambassadors for ERC” network took place in Brussels on April 28, 2025. The network is a collaborative effort between the European Research Council and the Association of ERC Grantees (AERG), and aims to spotlight the transformative power of frontier research across Europe.
The Brussels event, attended by ERC President Maria Leptin, celebrated the competitive selection of Ambassadors for ERC—each of them a current or former recipient of the ERC’s prestigious grants, known for fueling groundbreaking research through schemes like Starting, Consolidator, Advanced, and Synergy Grants. Mihaela Constantinescu, lecturer at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Bucharest, is PI of the avataResponsibility proiect, funded with €1.5 million in the 2023 ERC Starting Grants competition.
