CCEA Researchers Share Key Insights on Moral Responsibility and VR Ethics at European CHANGER Project Webinar

On 16th January 2025, Mihaela Constantinescu (Executive Director, CCEA) and Anda Zahiu (Researcher, CCEA) shared their expertise at the international webinar “Immersive Research, Ethical Challenges: Morality & Responsibility in VR,” organized under the framework of the European CHANGER (Horizon) project.

The CCEA team made a strong double contribution to the event, which was also introduced and closed by our colleague, Constantin Vică.

Key Contributions:

  • Mihaela Constantinescu provided critical analysis in her invited talk: “Moral Responsibility & Avatar Communities in the Metaverse.”
  • Anda Zahiu explored methodological and ethical implications in her talk: “Everything, Everywhere, All at once: VR as a Morality Lab.”

The CCEA presentations provided crucial analysis on how new forms of social interaction, mediated by avatars and immersive environments, fundamentally redefine and complicate the attribution of moral responsibility and offer new avenues for morality research.

We thank the organizers of the CHANGER project for hosting this important discussion. CCEA remains committed to contributing academic expertise toward the development of robust ethical frameworks for the digital future.
